Planet 51 Online

Trousered the Meffy Award in the cross platform category.

Madrid, June 24th, 2010 –. Zed Group, the multinational company based in Spain, devoted to digital entertainment and comprising the companies Zed, Ilion, and Pyro Studios, has won the Meffy Award in the Cross Platform Content category, competing with other finalists like The Walt Disney Company, CBS, Hungama and Fun Little Movies. Zed Group has won the cross platform Meffy thanks to the 360º digital entertainment offer around Planet 51 in recognition of digital content convergence. The Meffy Awards are conceded by the Mobile Entertainment Forum (MEF) and represent a wide international point of reference in acknowledging success and innovation in the mobile entertainment and media industries.

The computer animated movie Planet 51 and the global entertainment offer developed around it exemplify Zed Group’s capabilities and multiplatform vision. Ilion Animation Studios launched the film in November 2009, premiering in more than 170 countries. At the same time, Pyro Studios launched the video game for consoles, and Zed developed a wide offer for mobile and Internet services: an online gaming universe, a full catalogue of content for personalization, two mobile games -one for iPhone-, as well as a broad social games offer.

The Meffy’s 2010 gala, which took place on June 21st in London’s Covent Garden, gathered 300 representatives from the global digital entertainment sector, including operators, studios, equipment manufacturers, copyright owners, producers, and media groups.

Miguel López-Quesada, Zed Group General Manager, Corporate Communications and Institutional Affairs declared:”We are very proud to have been acknowledged at global level competing with long established companies in the field of entertainment. This award reinforces once again our growth and expansion chart over the last decade.”

This recognition adds to other important awards like the Goya to the best animation picture for Planet 51, the FICOD Award from the Spanish Department of Industry in 2007 and 2009, the Best D2C Company (Direct to Consumer) in the 2008 ME awards, or the 2008 Sony Ericsson Content Awards within the category “It’s all about entertainment” amongst others.

This very week, Zed Group has launched a new social game, InGenius, which has already entered the Top 20 Game list for Facebook users growth.
