Cambridge-based speech generation outfit joins TIGA.

TIGA, the trade association representing the UK games industry, today announced Phonetic Arts as its newest member.

Phonetic Arts delivers technology that generates natural expressive speech, allowing computer games to say any sentence in any type of voice. The company was founded in late 2006 and is based in Cambridge. The company’s product suite’ PA 2010’ is being licensed by many leading game studios such as Sony, Creative Assembly, Ninja Theory, A.C.R.O.N.Y.M, Bethesda, EA Sports, DICE and Bioware.

Paul Taylor, CEO explained the company’s vision: “With world leading expertise in all aspects of speech technology, our goal is to free games developers from the constraints of recorded samples and allow them to create rich, meaningful and responsive dialog within their games. Phonetic Arts has strength in depth. The core of the company is the R&D team who develop the speech algorithms that ensure the highest possible speech quality and performance.”

Steve Tyson, VP sales stated “Phonetic Arts is joining TIGA as we believe strongly in allowing the industry to build better games using the latest technology and research available. We want to work with TIGA to support independent developers and enable them to create expressive, realistic speech in their games whether it is a small iPhone game or a triple A console title.
