PES 2012 and AKB1/48 dominate Japanese chart

F1 2011 takes third as 3DS continues run at hardware #1

Konami's PES 2012, known in Japan as Winning Eleven, has pipped 'idol sim' AKB1/48: If I Loved an Idol in Guam to the top of the software chart in Japan, with the football title outselling second place by around 30,000 copies.

First week sales for the game were 272,036.

Numbers for titles further down the table were considerably lower, with Codemasters' F1 2011 in third selling just 26,574 copies.

Bethesda's Rage sold just over 11,000 copies on PS3 to take eighth.

In hardware, the PSP and PS3 failed to convert software successes into hardware units, remaining largely static in second and third whilst 3DS continued to lead with 58,504 unit sales.

The highest placed 3DS exclusive is Ocarina of Time in fifteenth.
