Peggle

Mobile version pegging it to phones worldwide.

SEATTLE, Washington – September 30, 2008 — PopCap Games®, the leading developer and publisher of casual games, today announced the launch of Peggle® Mobile, available now for a wide array of handsets from major wireless carriers in the United States with more set to roll out in North America, the United Kingdom and parts of Europe in the coming weeks.

“Peggle Mobile delivers an on-the-go gaming experience worthy of the award-winning Peggle franchise with a compelling translation that brings all the great action of the PC versions to mobile gamers everywhere,” stated Andrew Stein, director of mobile business development at PopCap. “Peggle Mobile raises the bar in mobile gaming, while being integral to PopCap’s strategy of providing AAA mobile titles to a range of mobile devices from cell phones, smartphones and PDAs to PocketPCs, iPods, iPhones, and more.”

Since its first introduction in March 2007, Peggle has been downloaded more than 20 million times on the Web, and garnered more than a dozen awards from leading industry associations and trade journals.

Peggle combines elements of pinball, pool and pachinko to create a completely different kind of game experience. The game challenges players to use skill, strategy and luck to clear progressively more difficult levels of orange pegs by firing a small silver ball from the top of the screen. Stationary and moving obstacles along with numerous power-ups and special effects combine with dynamically-assigned peg colors to make each level unique every time it’s played.

Peggle joins a host of tremendously successful titles, including Chuzzle™ Mobile and Bookworm™ Mobile, all of which were developed internally and published by PopCap in North America and Europe. Peggle for click-wheel iPod, introduced in late 2007, has also enjoyed critical and commercial success, and is the highest-rated game for iPod based on customer rankings in the iTunes storefront. Additionally, Bejeweled and Zuma™, two of PopCap’s most popular games, continue their positions among the best-selling mobile games of all-time, with Bejeweled still ranked as the overall #2 game in N. America through Q1 2008. Earlier this summer, PopCap also developed and launched the well received Bejeweled 2 for iPhone/iPod Touch.
