PDC World Championship Darts: Pro Tour

Six tournament players to make in-game debuts.

8th November 2010 – Wellingborough, UK/… O-Games today announced that its eagerly-awaited PDC World Championship Darts Pro Tour will feature the debut of six tournament players who have never been included in a PDC title before. The announcement comes alongside the release of two fun-filled trailer videos on www.facebook.com/pdcworldchampionshipdartsprotour showing off the series’ first implementation of the PlayStation Move and Wii Motion+ motion controllers.

The new game builds on the successes of its predecessors, with updated graphics, character models, and an optimised control system, and is set for release on 26th November 2010 for Wii TM , PlayStation 3 TM , Xbox 360 TM . PDC World Championship Darts Pro Tour provides fluid, accurate and simple throwing dynamics, getting players closer to the action than ever before. Joining international superstars like Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor, Raymond van Barneveld and James Wade for the very first time in this year’s iteration are:

Mervyn ‘The King’ King

King has been playing darts for over thirty years and has reached the semi-finals World Championship, World Matchplay, World Grand Prix and Grand Slam, as well as the final of the Premier League. In spite of winning four PDC Pro Tour titles, the world #6 has yet to win the World Championship.

Simon ‘The Wizard’ Whitlock

A native of Australia, Whitlock is currently ranked #4 in the world and returned to the Professional Darts Corporation tournaments in 2009. Whitlock famously came runner-up against Phil Taylor in the 2010 PDC World Darts Championship and used the prize money to move to the UK full-time.

Colin ‘The Wizard’ Osbourne

Another darts player with the wizard moniker, Osbourne famously hit two perfect nine dart finishes in 2005 and has won two PDC Pro Tour events. Currently ranked world #16, Osbourne also played table tennis and football in his youth and also is adept at the yo-yo!

Gary ‘The Flying Scotsman’ Anderson

Anderson made his PDC debut during 2009 and quickly made his mark, reaching successive finals in Nuland, Holland in Players Championships – losing on both days to Phil Taylor at the start of April – and hitting a nine-darter in an event in Derby. Anderson is currently ranked #10 in the world.

Robert ‘The Thorn’ Thornton

Having qualified for the 2008 PDC UK Open via the Pub qualifiers, Anderson went on to switch to the PDC after withdrawing from the Scottish team for the Europe Cup. The world #13 became only the third player to win both events of a PDC Pro Tour weekend in Irvine, North Ayrshire, when he beat Dennis Priestley to win both the Scottish Players Championship and the Scottish Regional qualifier for the UK Open during 2009.

Jelle ‘The Matador’ Klaasen

Dutchman Klassen is the youngest player to win the World Darts Championship and is currently ranked #25 in the world. In January 2009, Klaasen was chosen as one of the two wildcards for the 2009 Premier League Darts tournament, where competed against Phil Taylor, James Wade, Raymond van Barneveld, John Part, Terry Jenkins, Mervyn King and the other wildcard Wayne Mardle.

The latest iteration in the phenomenally successful franchise has evolved to support the latest developments in motion control gaming and will feature full PlayStation Move motion controller and Wii Motion+ support, in addition to standard PS3 and Xbox 360 control pads – allowing more players more ways of joining the game. Further establishing its heritage as the definitive darts game for fans of the sport, PDC World Championship Darts Pro Tour’s in-depth career mode will also support the latest tournaments, including the Grand Slam of Darts, a new fixture in the PDC events calendar. Player View puts you at The Oche in the eyes of a Pro, with gamers being able to control player celebrations. Plus the atmosphere will be further enhanced with an all-new commentary from TV’s ‘Voice of Darts’ Sid Waddell and John Gwynne; top level match referees, Bruce Spendley and Russ Bray; and Master of Ceremonies, John McDonald.

O-Games has also confirmed online 1-on-1 matches for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 gamers, as well as PDC World Championship Darts Pro Tour featuring a raft of downloadable content support on Xbox Live and PSN: including new players, events and darting accessories.

Get ready to line up behind The Oche with PDC World Championship Darts Pro Tour on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC from 26th November 2010.
