PC World rapped for "misleading" PS3 ad

The ASA has ruled against a PC World advert, saying it shouldn't be broadcast again in its current form

The Advertising Standards Authority has made a ruling against a PlayStation 3 TV advert for PC World, ordering that it be pulled from broadcasting.

PC World's advert was branded as "misleading" after it made claims to the effect that the PS3 could play all PS2 games.

The electronics retailer defended the advert saying that the PS3 already played 80 per cent of PS2 titles and that future software patches would increase that number.

The Advertising Standards Authority remained unconvinced, ruling that the advert breached CAP TV Advertising Standards Code rules 5.1 (misleading advertising) and should not appear again in its current form.
