Overwolf closes $16m Series B funding round

Intel Capital leads investment in PC app store

PC app store Overwolf has successfully closed out a Series B funding round worth $16 million.

The round was led by Intel Capital, with additional funding from Liberty Technology Venture Capital and other existing investors.

First funded in 2011, Overwolf is an open platform for game apps and in-game services, and has ten million monthly active users across mobile and desktop.

The platform offers apps for popular games, from coaching services to analytics solutions and video recording tools.

Overwolf intends to channel the funding into new tools, and accelerating growth across the developer ecosystem.

"This round of funding marks a new chapter in Overwolf's journey, and these resources will enable us to do more for our community of developers and partners than ever before" said CEO Uri Marchand..

"Through our close collaboration with Intel, which shares our passion for building open and neutral ecosystems, we're bringing our developer partners features that will help their business grow."

In partnership with Intel, Overwolf also recently launched a $7 million investment fund for developers of apps and mods for "hardcore gamers".
