Overwatch League team drops player

Boston Rising terminates contract of Jonathan "DreamKazper" Sanchez after allegation of sexual communications with a minor

The Overwatch League's inaugural season has been marred by player conduct issues, the latest instance of which came today after the Boston Uprising announced that it has terminated the contract of Jonathan "DreamKazper" Sanchez.

The team and the Overwatch League both suspended Sanchez yesterday evening, releasing public statements referring to unspecified allegations that were being investigated. While neither group actually detailed the allegations, Polygon reported on screencaps and a statement shared through Twitter apparently from a 14-year-old fan alleging sexual misconduct through online channels.

As of this writing, Sanchez had not responded to a request for comment.

The Overwatch League is less than three-quarters of the way through its inaugural season, and has already seen a number of issues with player behavior. Dallas Fuel player Félix "xQc" Lengyel was banned once for homophobia and another time for racism, which led the team and player to part company. Another Dallas Fuel player, Timo "Taimou" Kettunen was fined for using homophobic slurs on his personal stream.

The London Spitfires' Jun-Young "Profit" Park was fined for making an obscene gesture on camera during a match, while Houston Outlaws coach Tae-yeong "TaiRong" Kim was reprimanded for sharing an offensive meme on social media. Other players have been suspended for account boosting and account sharing, which are violations of Blizzard's terms of service.

Finally, last week saw the Philadelphia Fusion ban and fine Josh "Eqo" Corona for three games and $2,000 after he made a racist gesture during a stream.
