Over 5 million PS3's sold in Japan

Final Fantasy XIII is best-seller on Sony system

Sony's PlayStation 3 has now sold over 5 million units in Japan, since launch in November 2006.

According to data from Famitsu publisher Enterbrain, translated by Kotaku, Final Fantasy XIII has become the biggest seller on the system, with 1.8 million copies sold.

Konami's Metal Gear Solid 4 has sold 706,461 copies in the region, and the recently released Yakuza 4 526,093 copies.

In March of this year, Nintendo's Wii had sold 10 million units in the region, the PS3 over 4.7 million and the Xbox 360 more than 1.2 million units.

Nintendo's DS system is the highest selling current generation hardware in the region, with over 30 million units sold by March 2010.
