O2 launches Premiership Rugby Union 2006

An alternative to the World Cup fever

Creative North Studios, in conjunction with O2, has announced the launch of Premiership Rugby Union 2006. The studio's second officially licensed mobile game offers something different for anyone not currently obsessed with the forthcoming football World Cup.

The new game, which is currently compatible with over 200 handset models, features every official team and player within the league, all club logos, team colours and up-to-date player details.

All players are accurately represented, as well as full season and tournament modes with both 7's and 15's action for fans of the sport.

Phil Mundy, Creative North's managing director, commented: "We are thrilled to have been selected by O2 to develop this title and working with such a valuable licence further proves that our team and technology are world class. We have really pushed the bar with this title, blistering graphics and multiple modes of gameplay all come together to create the hardest hitting official Union title on the mobile platform."

An active member of the Game Republic - an alliance formed to further videogames development in the Yorkshire and Humberside regions - Creative North Studios has previously developed a number of select and directly commissioned mobile titles, including Nokia's one-button title Free Run, and has built on its experience in developing Rugby Super League in a bid to ensure that the latest title is as authentic and entertaining as possible for fans of the sport.

Premiership Rugby Union 2006 will initially be available in the UK through the O2 network.
