NLGD Festival of Games

The Truth About Marika's Adriana Skarped added to speaker line-up.

UTRECHT, The Netherlands, June 16, 2008 – The NLGD today announced that Adriana Skarped has been added to the Festival of Games speaker line-up. Skarped worked as lead actor and designer on the participatory television series Sanningen om Marika (The Truth About Marika), which was awarded an Emmy for best Interactive TV Service in April of this year.

Sanningen om Marika is a great example of a media production that combines traditional broadcast culture and gaming. Swedish television subcontracted The company P to produce this alternate reality, multi-platform media production. The result was an innovative and successful production offering online and live action role-playing experiences in parallel with traditional TV drama. Skarped was lead actor and a designer on a team of more than 20 people. Before Marika, Skarped provided game content for the Prosopopeia proposal, a design idea that uses the real world as a game interface.

At the Festival of Games, Adriana Skarped will share her experience in the interactive cross-media field. She will walk you through some highlights of the game, and question the distinction between reality and fiction.

Seth van der Meer, Chairman of the NLGD Foundation commented on Adriana’s presence and lecture, “Over the years Adriana has worked on various interesting projects that are not only innovative, but also very inspiring. We are looking forward to her lecture at the Festival.”
