Nintendo to bundle Zelda Collector's Edition with new Cubes

A new GameCube incentive from Nintendo will see the company offering a collector's disc featuring four classic Zelda games and a demo of Zelda: Wind Waker for free with every purchase of the console.

The disc, which was previously available only with the £99 Mario Kart: Double Dash bundle launched towards the beginning of November, features full version of the hugely popular N64 titles Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, as well as classic NES titles Legend of Zelda and Link's Adventure.

The disc, which is highly coveted among Nintendo fans - several of whom purchased the Mario Kart bundle just to get their hands on it, selling on their original Cubes second hand - will be available with the GameCube from December 1st. On the same day, it will also be made available in the Nintendo "Stars" catalogue - although it'll set you back a whopping 4500 Stars to purchase it.

Although we'd argue that Nintendo's dubious to promote the bundle as "four free games" with your GameCube is a little dubious, there's no doubt that it adds extra value to the £79 Cube offering. Ocarina of Time alone was one of the best selling titles on the N64, and raised merry hell at retail when the company failed to ship enough copies of it to keep up with demand at launch. Offering an improved version of it effectively for free a few years down the line is quite an incentive for new Cube purchasers.
