Nintendo's flagship US store, Nintendo World, is sponsoring a short film showcase as part of a New York film festival.

Nintendo has challenged filmmakers "from all walks of life" to create a short film or video on a Nintendo theme for its Short Cuts Showcase. The top three films will be shown as part of a short film showcase at the Rockefeller Center, where Nintendo World itself is situated, during the Center's annual summer film series.

The first prize is USD 10,000 in cash, a lunch meeting with the co-founder of the Tribeca Film Festival, and a trip to New York to see the screening. Two runners-up will receive Nintendo hardware and games, and also have their films shown.

Films must be less than five minutes long and based on Nintendo subject matter, but otherwise can take whatever form the entrants wish. Film-makers must be aged 18 or over and submit their entries my June 6.
