Nintendo moves into mobile content market
Ringtones, wallpapers and new WAP portal launched
Members of Nintendo's VIP 24:7 club will now be able to access a range of classic videogame ringtones, wallpapers and additional unique mobile content as the company launches its new WAP portal.
The new portal, which is accessible via all WAP enabled handsets, is available from today and contains information and videos of all things Nintendo, with additional content available exclusively for VIP 24:7 members.
Club members need simply to update their profile online by entering a mobile phone number and handset model, before heading to the WAP portal to see what's on offer. From December 5th, members can choose from over 20 game related realtone ringtunes, including classics such as Super Mario Bros, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Metroid Prime. Over 30 wallpapers and additional character-based customisation tools will be available for the redemption of VIP 24:7 stars.
Customers can gain access to the VIP 24:7 members club by registering a VIP product such as first party software or hardware. Membership grants users access to exclusive news, information, screens and artwork for Nintendo products, in addition to boosting the stars rewards system.
By regularly visiting the Nintendo website, taking part in surveys, entering contests and engaging in community services, or registering additional VIP product purchases, members will be awarded stars which can then be redeemed against a massive range of Nintendo products and bonus content from the dedicated stars reward catalogue.
The realtone ringtones will be available for a cost of 350 stars per tone, while the wallpapers and selected customisation content can be obtained for 150 stars each. Nintendo's star rewards system has proven exceptionally popular with gamers, and the company hopes to encourage more members to join and improve website traffic with the launch of its new WAP portal.
