Nintendo issues unsurprising take down notice for fan-made Zelda

"Breath of the NES" developer publishes email from NoA attorney

Nintendo has issued a request for a fan-made 2D take on the Zelda: Breath of the Wild to be taken offline, citing IP infringement.

Development on the project was inspired by a recently revealed 2D prototype for the latest Zelda game, Breath of the Wild. Developer WinterDrake had been working on the project quite publicly for sometime, hosting a demo download of the game on indie hub Itch.io, but Tweeted an email at the weekend which came from an attorney acting for Nintendo, requesting that the download be removed.

WinterDrake has complied with the order, and is planning on changing art assets and other potential IP infringements in order to continue work on the game without fear of litigation. Nintendo's response to that decision is as yet unknown.
