Nintendo continues to dominate Japanese hardware charts

The popularity of Nintendo hardware across Japan continues to embarrass competition, with Wii and DS Lite accounting for more than 79 per cent of the sales last week.

The popularity of Nintendo hardware across Japan continues to shadow the competition, with Wii and DS Lite accounting for more than 79 per cent of sales last week.

Even though numbers were slightly down for the week ended 10th June, 117,193 DS Lite units were sold compared to 24,711 PSPs.

Year-to-date figures show the DS has outsold PSP by more than three to one so far.

Nintendo's Wii is also out-performing its rivals, racking up 64,529 sales compared to 8776 for PlayStation 3 and 2553 for Xbox 360.

However, Sony's Playstation 2 continues to outsell the new systems from both Microsoft and Sony, with 11,097 shifted last week.
