As Pokemon Leaf Green and Pokemon Fire Red arrive in Europe today, Nintendo has confirmed that North American sales of the titles have passed a million units since their launch there three weeks ago.

The success of the two titles, which are Game Boy Advance remakes of the original Pokemon Green and Red titles, is matched by the success of the Game Boy Advance SP in the past week.

Since the price cut in North America to $79.99 - which was mirrored by a drop in Europe which has also precipitated a major boost in sales - the GBA SP has seen hardware sales soar by 70 per cent.

"The key to success in our industry is no secret," according to Nintendo of America senior VP for marketing and corporate communications George Harrison. "When you offer great interactive entertainment at a great price, players respond in droves."
