New Midas subsidiary to publish Shin Megami Tensei in Europe

Herts-based publisher Midas Interactive is to set up a new subsidiary under the name of Ghostlight, according to a statement passed on to our sister site, Eurogamer.net.

The first title to be published by the new company is latest in the Shin Megami Tensei series of turn-based RPGs, which could be in the shops as early as next month.

"Our company called Ghostlight has acquired the European rights for SMT," the statement says. "We are calling the game 'Shin Megami Tensei: Lucifer's Call."

The PS2-exclusive game is the third title in the SMT series and is already out in the US and Japan, titled Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. It follows the adventures of a teenage boy, haunted by mysterious visions, who finds himself trapped in the demon-filled ruins of Tokyo after the destruction of the world.

"We have secured the full version of the game as was released in Japan and US under the 'Maniacs' edition," Midas confirms. "This is the version that includes Dante from Devil May Cry 2."

Ghostlight is currently negotiating contracts to publish a range of other titles, and sales and distribution deals also need to be worked out.

Shin Megami Tensei: Lucifer's Call will "be in the shops by late May [or] early June", according to Midas.
