Entertainment UK (E.UK), Europe's leading wholesale distributor of home entertainment product, has appointed John Stanhope as games trading controller as part of an expansion drive in the sector for the company.

Stanhope has been with the Woolworths Group for more than 18 years, most recently as Head of Commercial at MVC. Previously he was Video Trading Manager at Woolworths and MVC, following a two-year stint as Trading Manager at E.UK. In his time with the group he has also held several other commercial roles in home entertainment.

In his new role, Stanhope assumes responsibility for a team of 12 comprising Trading Managers, Buyers and Assistant Buyers, split into customer and supplier facing segments in order to ensure specialist focus in each area.

Stanhope's appointment comes at a time of significant growth for E.UK in home entertainment, with several new trading agreements confirmed in recent weeks. E.UK was recently appointed to supply Morrisons with home entertainment product, including a wide range of games, and the company has also recently become primary book supplier to Tesco.

Said Stanhope: "Particularly considering the next generation console releases due out in the next year or so, this is a fascinating and exciting time to join E.UK's games division. I am looking forward to working in the dynamic and growing games market and to further developing business with and on behalf of our customers and suppliers."

Ian Foster, Commercial Director at E.UK added: "I'm very pleased to welcome John back to E.UK at this exciting time for the company and the games industry. His extensive expertise and experience across the Group and in the home entertainment market will serve us well as we grow further in the games category."
