Capcom has announced the promotion of Hiroshi Tobisawa, currently head of worldwide marketing at the company, to the dual roles of president of Capcom Eurosoft and president of Capcom USA.

Tobisawa-san, who has been with Capcom since 1997 when he joined the company to head up corporate planning in Japan, will replace William Gardner, who retired in September after six years at the helm in the USA and Europe.

"I have known Hiroshi Tobisawa for many years and have enormous respect for his management abilities so it is with great honor that I make this appointment," according to Capcom chairman and president Kenzo Tsujimoto. "His knowledge of the operations in our Japan office can only strengthen the U.S. and European operations and this exchange of communication can only benefit Capcom."

Tobisawa-san will be responsible for overseeing all of the company's North American and European businesses, and will report directly to Tsujimoto-san in Japan. Part of his brief in the new role will be strengthening the relations between the Japanese and overseas divisions in order to ensure the development of successful products for western markets.
