Naval War: Arctic Circle

Developer diary, dead ahead.

NEW YORK – March 29th, 2011 – Paradox Interactive and Turbo Tape Games are happy to announce the launch of the first developer diary for Naval War: Arctic Circle due for release on PC in Q1 2012. The developer diaries will be released on a monthly basis.  The game is a new maritime RTS that places players at the controls of some of today’s most powerful naval forces, including NATO, the Nordic Alliance, Russia, and the United States.

Taking place in the arctic regions of the world, Naval War: Arctic Circle will challenge players as they pass through the world’s deadliest waters vying for dominance and complete control of the arctic seas, allowing commanders to purge enemy forces either above, beneath, or on the ocean surface. Will you be able to reign over the waters?

From the first developer diary by Jan Haugland, lead game designer:

”Real, modern naval combat actually lends itself very well to an RTS. Yes, the weapons have ridiculous range and power. Yes, when things start happening, they happen extremely fast. One moment you are looking at a map showing your forces in complete control of the battlespace; the next, you are on the receiving end of a game-ending volley of fast sea-skimming missiles and desperately trying to scramble your remaining aircraft.  What’s not to love?”
