National Skills Day - Blitz Adds a Third Day for Educators

New initiative generates overwhelming demand.

25th May 2005. Leamington Spa, Midlands, UK. Blitz, one of the UK's most successful and longest-established game development studios announced today - National Skills Day - that due to overwhelming demand, it is organizing a third Open Day, this time for educators, at its impressive headquarters.

Following a deluge of applications to the announcement of its new initiative to organise Open Days in June and July exclusively for students considering a career in the videogame industry the studio has added a third date - 20th July 06 - for lecturers, teachers and others involved in educating potential videogame developers.

Philip Oliver, CEO and co-founder of Blitz Games, commented, "We thought the idea would be popular but are still pleasantly surprised by the incredible demand for the Open Days. By adding a third day for the educators we hope to be able to work even more closely with them and shed more light on the skills and talents that we look for."

Paula Moses, Sector Manager for Interactive Media, Computer Games and Animation for Skillset added, "Following the high demand for places on Blitz's student open days Skillset is very pleased to see this initiative expanded to include an open day for Computer Games Lecturers. Industry engaging with the lecturers responsible for games courses ensures that they can use up to the minute information about the games industry and pass on to their students a realistic sense of what the UK games industry can offer.

The Open Days on 6th June and 16th July at Blitz's headquarters will allow students unique, behind-the-scenes insight into the processes of videogame creation for leading consoles PlayStation®2, Nintendo GameCube, Wii and Xbox 360. The days will provide opportunities to talk to animators, programmers, designers and audio technicians working on high profile titles including Reservoir Dogs (Eidos), SpongeBob SquarePants (THQ) and Karaoke Revolution: American Idol (Konami).
