Namco signs Freemantle deal

To bring Idols brand to EMEA territories

Namco Bandai has inked a deal with Freemantle Media to develop games based on the TV company's Idols format.

The deal covers Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific and is the first time Namco has licensed content specifically for a European audience. Namco Bandai established a dedicated Euro division in January 2007.

"Announcing this deal is a great milestone for Namco Bandai it's one which underlines our commitment to be one of the industry's premier games companies," commented Masaji Okubo, MD.

"Idols is one of the biggest television formats in the world, with millions of fans who will soon be able to interact with their favourite show anytime they want."

Mark Newton, executive VP of Freemantle added: "Idols is one of our most important brands and we're pleased to be working with industry leader Namco Bandai on the development of mobile games."
