Namco confirms Katamari Damacy sequel in development

Namco is working on a sequel to its quirky and innovative PS2 title Katamari Damacy and plans to release it in Japan on the PlayStation 2 during its 2005 financial year, according to a report on US website IGN.

Katamari Damacy 2 was apparently listed amongst Namco's plans for FY 2005 in an investor report hosted on Namco's "WonderPage" official website, and unlike a number of games it wasn't listed as "tentative", suggesting that Namco has made up its mind about a sequel.

The move isn't surprising considering the weight of the positive response to the Japanese version, and the US conversion released recently, with the game picking up excellent review scores and a number of design awards.

However, as yet Namco has revealed no plans to bring the game to Europe in any form - making this into the latest in a series of Namco titles which have never crossed over the Atlantic, and putting another question mark over the firm's commitment to this territory.
