MW2 recalled in Russia over terrorism level
Government orders game off sale as objections to its content are raised
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been removed from sale in Russia, following complaints specifically relating to the game's airport terrorism level.
According to an online report by Hellforge, based on a Russian source, the government has ordered the recall of all PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 copies of the game. The controversial level in question, entitled 'No Russian', has been patched out of the PC version in the country.
Infinity Ward is reportedly planning to resubmit an edited version of the game within the next month that it hopes will enable its return to shop shelves.
The game's now infamous airport scene has raised some negative publicity in the UK, with its "scenes of brutality" being criticised in parliament last week by Leicester East Labour MP Keith Vaz.
But far more controversy has been caused in Russia, where some politicians have objected in particular to the game's portrayal of the Russian armed forces as terrorists.
