Multi-device social gaming

Farmville's arrival on iPhone gets thumbs-up from social games tech firm Sibblingz.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA- June 8, 2010- With WWDC fever in full swing this week, the mobile community is reacting to Steve Jobs keynote speech, which was highlighted by Zynga’s announcement that Farmville will be available on the iPhone, utilizing in-app purchases and push notifications. Sibblingz, the multi-device social game engine, welcomes Zynga’s announcement as a validation of the multi-device gaming space.

“The consumer demand to play games seamlessly across multiple devices is undeniable,” says Ben Savage, Founder of Sibblingz. “We’re thrilled to see a big player like Zynga follow the approach and take a game from Facebook to iPhone, but this is step one. The industry will need a solution to expand any title to any major device, as we have demonstrated with CrowdStar's Happy Island, playable on iPhone, iPad and Android.”

Sibblingz, which launched last month in private beta, enables developers to create games on Facebook’s PC site as well as Apple’s iDevices and Google Android devices, with the same game state, friends and user stats.

Sibblingz debuted with the popular CrowdStar game, Happy Island. The game is set to be available on the iPhone and iPad this month.

While Zynga’s latest move is great for gamers, it only signals the first step in creating a multi device ecosystem, Savage says. “Zynga was able to bring Farmville on the iPhone because of their considerable resources,” he says. “others are going to need our engine approach to pull this off.”

With Sibblingz, developers will be able to save millions in game development costs and decrease their time to market on launching cross-platform. Sibblingz also expands a game to the iPad and Android platform.
