More mobile consolidation as In-Fusio acquires Mobile Scope

The number of players in the mobile publishing market continues to shrink, with US firm In-Fusio today announcing its second strategic acquisition in under a week - a buyout of German mobile publisher Mobile Scope.

The number of players in the mobile publishing market continues to shrink, with US firm In-Fusio today announcing its second strategic acquisition in under a week - a buyout of German mobile publisher Mobile Scope.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed, but the acquisition gives In-Fusio access to Mobile Scope's catalogue of titles - including games based on movies such as Die Hard and Ice Age - and brings its number of employees to 230 worldwide.

Mobile Scope is set to be integrated into the publishing division of In-Fusio, and its former CEO Jurgen Goeldner will remain with the merged company, acting as executive vice president of publishing.

The move comes only days after In-Fusio announced the acquisition of American publisher Thumbworks, and adds yet another major buyout to the huge spree of consolidation which has gripped the mobile sector in recent months.

"In six years, In-Fusio has become one of the world's top three mobile game publishers and has built a unique position in connected mobile game services," mused In-Fusio's co-CEO Giles Corbett in a statement on the deal.

"Just after the purchase of Thumbworks, the acquisition of Mobile Scope perfectly matches our strategy to deliver entertaining content for mobile phones and services dedicated to players' communities," he continued. "The outstanding quality of the Mobile Scope team, and its experience in the management of third-party developers, are major assets that will play a key role in In-Fusio's continued development."
