Lionhead Studios founder Peter Molyneux is set to receive an honorary Doctorate of Technology from the University of Abertay Dundee for his achievements in the field of game creation and design.

Molyneux is perhaps best known for his work at celebrated Britsoft developer Bullfrog, which included work on simulation title Populous - one of the best selling videogames of all time.

Following the sale of Bullfrog to Electronic Arts, Molyneux founded his own company, Lionhead Studios, which created the much-hyped Black & White. He is currently involved in the creation of Black & White 2, film studio simulation The Movies, and a number of other projects at Lionhead satellite studios such as Fable and BC.

The University of Abertay, which has been a pioneer in the field of third level education in videogame technology and design, will award Molyneux with his honorary doctorate next month.

"I am delighted that Abertay has chosen to honour me with this doctorate," commented Molyneux, "and I hope that this will mark the start of a long and fruitful relationship."
