Mobile Chaos unveils new joypad for phones

Mplay to make sore thumbs a thing of the past?

With the recent emphasis on one-thumb gaming and a continuing trend of slim-line, tiny-buttoned handsets, Mobile Chaos has announced a new peripheral that aims to rescue those sore thumbs and bring a touch of console culture to the mobile gaming market.

Demonstrated to the mobile trade for the first time at the recent CTIA Wireless convention, the Mplay device is a rather full-figured peripheral that enables mobile phone users to easily attach their handset and enjoy gaming in a more traditional manner normally associated with home consoles.

Resembling the retro NES joypad, Mplay has been designed specifically for the mobile market and the controller has been created to ensure full compatibility with a wide range of handsets.

The large D-pad design sits on the left, with control buttons on the right that replicate the handset keypad, only larger, of course. Mplay also includes built-in key configuration software to make button configuration for different mobile games as simple and intuitive as possible.

A USA Wireless brand, Mobile Chaos offers a range of mobile phone accessories, peripherals and personalisation products. The Mplay device is available for a suggested retail price of USD 49, and more information, pictures and technical specification for the gadget can be found by visiting the Mobile Chaos website.
