Minter to keynote Independent Games Summit

Details of the the 2007 Independent Games Summit have emerged, with UK development veteran Jeff Minter delivering the keynote address.

Details of the the 2007 Independent Games Summit have emerged, with UK development veteran Jeff Minter delivering the keynote address.

The two day event will also feature insight from a range of respected independent development studios including Valve, Telltale Games, Introversion, NinjaBee and Gamelab, amongst others.

The Independent Games Summit runs as part of the Game Developers Conference, held at San Francisco's Moscone Convention Centre, March 5th and 6th.

"Independent games, like casual and online games, have become an essential element of mainstream game development," said Jamil Moledina, executive director of the GDC.

"For the past eight years, the Independent Games Festival has been, like the indie film movement, a source of true daring and a jumping board for reinvigorating large-scale commercial development."

"Now with the growing importance of digital distribution of indie and casual games on consoles, it is imperative for us to build on the IGF experience and incubate an independent games focus at GDC," he added.
