Microsoft set to launch Crystal Xbox for European launch anniversary?

It's being reported today that Microsoft plans to celebrate the second anniversary of the Xbox launch in Europe by releasing a limited edition "Crystal Pack" Xbox, featuring a clear white casing and two matching controllers.

Although Microsoft could not be reached for comment at time of publication (and we rather suspect that we'll get the standard "we do not comment on rumours and speculation" response once we do get in touch), the original report on German website Xbox-Universe features some very convincing images of the limited edition console and its packaging.

According to the report, the Crystal Pack Xbox will launch on March 14 at a cost of â'¬199 (so the standard £129.99 in the UK, most likely). No figures are given for how many of the units will be shipped, and it's not thought that any software will be bundled with it.

This isn't the first time that Microsoft has launched a limited edition Xbox in Europe - last spring saw the arrival of the limited edition transparent green model, which sported the same colours as the test kit Xboxen used by developers and journalists to test unfinished games.
