Microsoft bringing E3 home

From July 10 through July 13, Microsoft will be offering Xbox Live marketplace downloads of E3 show content.

Microsoft's E3 2007 press conference, which takes place on the evening of July 10, will be made available in high-definition on Xbox Live in the week.

There will also be video updates directly from E3 as well as a selection of game trailers, themes, gamer pictures and demos from titles to be previewed at the show.

This is the second year in a row that Microsoft has offered E3 content to members of its Xbox Live service.

Microsoft's rivals have not yet announced any similar plans and it seems unlikely they will - at least not for this year's E3.

Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz recently a Sony representative said, "Unfortunately, with Home still in beta, there is really no way that we can re-construct the E3 experience online this year.

"The beauty of Home is that we can stream media into it. So, even the lobby could serve as a showcase for demos and videos in the future. But that's not something we are doing this year."
