Microsoft: 360 sales up 100 per cent following price cut

US retailers report boost for all SKUs over first weekend at new price point

Microsoft has said that following the US price cut of the Xbox 360, sales of the home console at some retailers have risen 100 per cent.

According to a statement on Kotaku, a number of retailers reported that sales of some of the Xbox 360 SKUs were selling at six times the rate of the previous weekend.

Microsoft cut the price of the Xbox 360 Arcade unit last week to USD 199, while the Core or Premium edition now selling for USD 299 and the Elite unit for USD 399.

The Arcade unit is now the cheapest current generation home console on the market.

"We are thrilled to be the first next-generation console on the market to reach USD 199, a price that invites everyone to enjoy Xbox 360," said Don Mattrick, senior vice president of the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft.
