Media Molecule, Splash Damage help fund Games Up?

Qantm College also contributes to final stages of awareness campaign

LittleBigPlanet developer Media Molecule, Quake Wars studio Splash Damage and Qantm College have all signed up to help fund UK campaign Games Up?

Games Up? aims to raise the profile of the industry, engage with the UK government and provide business assistance to developers in the region.

"We're really proud to be able to provide the final round of funding for the Games Up campaign", commented Paul Wedgwood, studio director of Splash Damage,

"These are exciting times for the UK games industry, and with better support from the government and universities, we'll be able to contribute even more to the UK economy."

Media Molecule's Chris Lee added: "It's important for us, as individual studios, publishers and the industry as a whole to be proactive and help the government understand what we do. Being part of the Games Up campaign is a big step towards achieving that."

The final stage of the campaign will involve a range of meetings with MPs through to November, culminating in a submission to the treasury urging the government for support.

Businesses already sponsoring the campaign include Sony, Microsoft, Take-Two, Activision Blizzard, Sega, NCsoft and Relentless.
