Medal of Honor at number one in UK chart

EA shooter defies lukewarm critical reception with top placing

Medal of Honor, the series reboot from EA, has entered the UK chart in the top spot, overcoming a lukewarm critical reception to push FIFA 11 down into second.

Ubisoft's Just Dance 2 has hit third on its first week on sale, in a week which sees the original Just Dance slip out of the top ten and sink to 12th after 45 weeks on the chart. Naruto Shippenden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 is the only other top twenty new entry, hitting the chart at number nine.

Medal of Honor was judged to have underperformed somewhat in reviews, averaging a 75 per cent Metacritic rating with scores ranging from 91 down to 60 per cent. However, the number one position will be seen as justification for a series which had positioned itself in direct opposition to the forthcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Troubled franchise Guitar Hero shows further signs of fading at retail, as Warriors of Rock disappears from the top 20 on its second week in the shops.
