"Make the Game" Developer Competition

Developers from 13 countries submit entries to competition.

Only seven weeks after the start of "Make the Game" developers from no less than 13 countries have entered their latest browser and social games into the competition, proving that Computec Media's contest with a total investment of up to 1 million euros for the best games has already become an international success. And a new cooperation makes it even more exciting: Trinigy GmbH will provide up to five of the winners free game engine licenses valued at over 300,000 euros. A jury chaired by industry expert Tom Putzki (Piranha Bytes, Phenomedia, etc.) will pick the winning games in August 2011.

The games that have been coming in for the "Make the Game" competition since January 26, 2011 from renowned developers from Germany, Austria and Switzerland are joined by entries from respected game developers from the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Italy, Lithuania, Norway, India, Argentina, Costa Rica and Bosnia-Herzegovina. Hans Ippisch, Managing director at Computec Media: "The global response from game developers and the industry's interest in our browser & social games competition is absolutely exceptional. ,Make the Game' has become an international success in the games industry in its very first year."

And now the competition is even more appealing thanks to the cooperation with Trinigy GmbH, provider of a leading game engine technology, which is offering up to five winning games each a free WebVision license and support starter kit to produce a computer game. Together, these licenses are valued at 300,000 euros. "We're very excited that we are able to make an active contribution to the ,Make the Game' competition," says Felix Röken, General manager at Trinigy GmbH. "The contest is playing a unique and pioneering role in the German games industry and brilliantly reflects Germany's position as an innovator in this field."

A jury of five distinguished experts chaired by Tom Putzki - active in the games sector since the mid 90s - will ensure the quality of the games they pick as winners of the "Make the Game" competition. Putzki is the founder of Piranha Bytes (Gothic), co-founder of Phenomedia AG (Moorhuhn) and, in addition to other work, is currently an instructor at Games Academy. The remaining members of the jury will also use their many years of experience in the games industry to choose the winners: Hannes Beuck, CEO of Playa Games (Shakes & Fidget, BloodGame), Petra Fröhlich, Editor in chief at PC Games, Florian Stangl, Editor in Chief at Online Computec Media and Hans Ippisch, Managing director at Computec Media.

Interested developers can still register their games until April 15, 2011 at www.makethegame.de/en. The games must be completed by June 30, 2011. The winners selected by the jury will be announced at the gamescom 2011 trade fair in Cologne. The games are scheduled to be published in September 2011 in cooperation with a renowned publisher.
