LUXOR 5th Passage

Fifth anniversary edition of MumboJumbo's marble shooter.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DALLAS (November 19, 2010) – Five years ago, leading developer and publisher MumboJumbo launched LUXOR and the marble-shooter, set in ancient Egypt, became an instant classic.  The Luxor series boasts more than 100 million downloads.  Today, the makers celebrate the title’s success by launching and all new installment, LUXOR 5 th Passage.

“We’re very excited to celebrate five years of LUXOR with 5 th Passage,” said Mark Cottam, CEO of MumboJumbo. “It’s amazing the things we’ve accomplished with this franchise. LUXOR has proved to have staying power—folks download LUXOR games more than 20,000 times each day.  This new chapter introduces a skill mode, new power-ups, and the classic LUXOR game play our fans have come to love.”

LUXOR 5 th Passage offers 100 levels in Adventure mode, 20 achievements, and a new Blast mode.  Players collect falling treasures and eliminate the oncoming chains of spheres in the #1 action-puzzle game to save ancient Egypt.   Players can test their accuracy in Blast mode—the two-minute timed mode tracks how many points a player can accumulate.

“LUXOR has a lot of passionate fans out there—we’ve had folks tell us that they met their spouse over the LUXOR game at a bar-top machine and another let us know that his four-year-old son wanted to change his name to LUXOR.  We wanted to say thanks to our fans and give newcomers a sampling of the levels that our supporters have told us are their favorites as a bonus,” said Cottam.  People’s Choice mode features 15 of players’ favorite levels from LUXOR 2, LUXOR 3, and Quest for the Afterlife.

Players new and returning also will find four new power-ups: the powerful Double Shooter, the devastating Black Hole, the ruinous Spiker Ball, and the deathly Lead Barrage.  Outfitted with 25 all-new backgrounds and pathways, LUXOR 5 th Passage also introduces the Eye of Horus where players can click the Eye of Horus button when in a real jam to eliminate all remaining spheres.  And, for the true LUXOR Pharaoh, an Insane difficulty level has been added.

“When LUXOR came out five years ago, it turned marble-popper games on their ear,” said John Newcomer, industry veteran and Director of Game Design for MumboJumbo. “We want to celebrate with the players who have made that possible by paying homage to classic LUXOR game play while offering them some new toys that enhance what’s made LUXOR so great.”

To cap off the anniversary celebration, MumboJumbo is holding weekly giveaways through their Twitter feed @MumboJumboGames.  Each week, fans and followers will have the chance to randomly win MumboJumbo swag, games, download codes and copies of their favorite LUXOR titles.

Over the last five years, LUXOR has spanned almost every gaming platform. The marble-shooter title can be found for PC, Mac, iPhone and iPod Touch, Nintendo DS™, Nintendo Wii™, PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system, PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, and soon the iPad.
