'LinkedIn for gamers' Efuse raises $6m

Funds came from the Ohio Innovation Fund as well as NFL and NBA athletes

Social media platform Efuse raised $6 million in a funding round led by the Ohio Innovation Fund.

The round also saw participation from NFL and NBA athletes Odell Beckham Jr. and Denzel Ward (Cleveland Browns), Ezekiel Elliott (Dallas Cowboys), Chase Winovich (New England Patriots), and Seth Curry (Philadelphia 76ers), Forbes reported.

Based in Columbus, Ohio, Efuse positions itself as a "LinkedIn for gamers", connecting esports players and gamers with recruiters and companies with job openings.

The platform gathered 500,000 new users last year, and currently has nearly 25,000 jobs, internships, and scholarships on offer.

The funding will go towards further development of the platform and a recruitment push, as well as the expansion of its competitive events, called Erena.

Efuse raised £2.3 million in a previous funding round, having launched in November 2018.
