April 5th 2005, Northamptonshire, UK: Liquid Games has confirmed that its classic games compilation, The Arcade is now complete and having been submitted to Sony for the usual technical checks, is on target for a June release.
Retro Gaming has become hugely popular over the last few years with the influx of plug and play TV games and has spawned dedicated magazines and many websites. Liquid's new title, with all the addictive intensity of early arcade gaming and for single or two players, features a complete selection of classic favourites, brought up to date with three dimensional graphics and all new sound effects. The Arcade features a complete selection of games inspired by classic favourites. For those of you old enough to remember sitting at the gaming table in your local or queuing in the arcade to see if you could beat the hi-score, the inspirations behind Liquid's latest title are: Pong, Lander, Asteroids, Joust, Space Invaders, Centipede, QBert, Warlords, Bomberman and Pipe Dreams.
Publishing Director for Liquid Games, Kevin Hassall said:
"Although The Arcade will allow players to re-live the classic era of gaming, we hope to bring these timeless favourites to a much wider audience. We foresee much family fun to be had as parents introduce their children to the videogames they played in their youth."
Combining retro charm with 21st century technology, The Arcade brings classic gameplay out of the games cabinets and into the living room for old hands and new fans alike and will be available on PS2 in June, with an SRP of £9.99.
