Legend: Legacy of the Dragons

Russia, Moscow, November 11’ 2008 – Astrum Online Entertainment, the leading player in the Russian interactive entertainment market, has made a strategic breakthrough in development of its business: one of the holding leading game projects – MMORPG “Legend: Legacy of the Dragons” – was launched in national online games markets of China and Germany in the end of October’ 2008. The launches of official Chinese ( http://lz.woniu.com/) and German ( http://www.warofdragons.de/) game sites were the actual beginning of active business operations of Astrum Online in these markets.

The browser based online game “Legend: Legacy of the Dragons” launch in the foreign markets was the result of Astrum Online Entertainment holding strategic line to gain and support its status of a global company and driving of Russian game projects up to international level. It is just a year after foundation of the holding they achieved the first results in accordance with previously set tasks.

The Chinese launch of the Russian web-based MMORPG “Legend: Legacy of the Dragons” was made with the assistance of Snail Game, one of the leaders in 3D online game operating and development in China. It is the first but not the last joint project of the companies.

It was the first instance of the release of such an expansive web game product in China. It is unprecedented and will also mark the first release of a Russian web-based MMO game in the Asian market.

Vladimir Nikolsky, CEO of Astrum Online Entertainment holding, delivered a speech to members of the Chinese media at the press conference in Shanghai. He praised the perspectives of MMO games in the Chinese online entertainment segment and expressed his confidence in further successful cooperation between Astrum Online Entertainment and Snail Game, having underlined that it was the first instance of such a large-scale collaboration of Russian and Chinese online publishers.

According to the expert estimates of Shi Hai, the president of Snail Games, Snail Game's browser-based online games market share in China will reach 70% by the end of 2009. A half of the Snail Games’ market share will be obtained by MMORPG “Legend: Legacy of the Dragons” and other games of the Russian holding company.

As Chinese expert say, the growth of online games market in China will be up to 26% and will break through $2.8 billion line in 2009.

Vsevolod Leonov, VP of global business development of Astrum Online Entertainment holding said: “Presence on the Chinese market is a new and absolutely essential step in our business development strategy. The difference between business models in Russia and China is subtle to non-existent, so our products fit perfectly to both markets. We were the first who launched browser based MMO game of such quality in cooperation with Snail Game in Asian market and we have excellent chances to get the lion's share of this market segment in the near future”.

The German debut of “Legend: Legacy of the Dragons” was on November 1’ 2008. It was the official launch of closed beta testing of the game. Astrum GmbH (Hamburg) – the holding’s official representative office - will carry out all operational activity on the German version of “Legend: Legacy of the Dragons”.

Within two and a half years since the official “Legend: Legacy of the Dragons” launch in Russia it was registered more than 2.5 million players on Russian servers. The game was the winner of Russian Web Award “Top-10” in 2007 and 2008. Moreover, from the beginning of 2008 there are English language consumer services of the game project and by the beginning of 2009 it is planned to launch Turkish version of it. Also it is scheduled to implement game support in all the main European languages.
