Vivendi Universal Games and Konami have inked a deal which will see Konami acting as exclusive distributor of VUG's titles in Japan, with four new VUG titles to be launched in the territory by the end of the year.

Publishing responsibilities for the titles covered by the deal will remain with Vivendi, while Konami will be handling the distribution through its existing Japanese distribution networks.

The first game to be launched will be Van Helsing on PS2, which will arrive later this week, and will be followed by a trio of Crash Bandicoot Purple: Ripto's Revenge (GBA), Spyro Orange: The Cortex Conspiracy (GBA) and Crash Twinsanity (PS2), all on December 9th.

A fifth game will be launched under the agreement in early 2005, with Vivendi's forthcoming PS2 third-person action title Red Ninja: End of Honour being released in the first quarter of the year.

"Japan is an important market to VU Games," according to CEO Bruce Hack, "and Konami's strong distribution network will greatly increase our exposure in this key region."
