Konami eyes Street Supremacy

Konami revs up Genki's street-based multi-player racer for a European launch

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has confirmed it will release Street Supremacy, a street racing game, developed by Genki specifically for PSP (PlayStation®Portable) towards the end of September.

Street Supremacy is a high-octane racing game featuring a wealth of licensed vehicles. The single player 'Team Battle' mode sees the player joining a team and competing against rival teams for control over the 15 areas of Tokyo. In two-player mode the player selects one of their customized vehicles and races against the second player via Ad-Hoc Wi-Fi in a one-on-one battle.

Street Supremacy's 'Team Battle' mode takes place in the 15 areas of the city with teams vying to dominate the game map. The battles are split into single duels between individual racers and Five-against-Five Team Battles for control of that area. Players can choose who to race, cherry-picking their rivals from the player roster as they try to seize territory from them. The 'Team Battle' also encourages competition within each team, as winners are upgraded in their team ranking and can eventually challenge to be team leader.

In addition to Street Supremacy's stunning racing action, the PSP game's cars can also be modified to add an edge to the duels. The game's authentically modeled Nissans, Mitsubishis, Subarus, Toyotas and Mazdas can all be enhanced with new exhausts, paint jobs and body-kits. These all prove vital in shaving seconds off the lap times, while vinyls and fancy lights can also be used to enhance the cars aesthetics, adding a layer of gloss to an already entertaining racer.
