King Arthur

Background details on the game, direct from the round table.

The story of King Arthur began in the age of legends, when the land of Britannia awaited a new king…

After the great monarch, Uther Pendragon died, he left his realm in ruins. All the provinces he had united began to fight for land and every new king wanted to sit on the throne of the whole realm. Then the wizard Merlin summoned all of these rulers to London, to show who should be rightful king of this realm with a great miracle.

And when all the mighty and powerful gathered in the cathedral they saw a great marble stone; and in the middle was an anvil of steel, and a fair sword stuck into it, and there were letters written in gold on the sword that said: “The one who pulls out this sword is the rightful king born of all Britannia.”

Then all the kings set against the sword, but only young Arthur, foster child of Sir Ector could pull the magic weapon out of the stone. Unknown to him, he was the true son and the rightful heir to Uther Pendragon. He was the one fated to be the ruler of Britain.

And then, in that instant, everything changed.

Like a cut that severed all the threads in the tapestry of the worlds or a curse that undid whatever magic that held the world together, young Arthur and his simple act changed Britain forever. There was no need for great apparitions - every living soul just knew that the age of wonders is upon them.

In the wilderness, monsters woke from their long sleep. The air crackled around ancient stone circles: the faerie lords of the legends returned and they are much more frightening as anyone imagined. The believers of the old Roman ways gather strength in the former Roman provinces. And something terrible happened in the north, a cataclysm that changed both the land and the people… unleashing the tides of a terrible conflict that will change everything.

Britannia was reborn but suddenly it is threatened by a great war. There are some powerful rulers who also want to conquer the realm and don't believe or care that King Arthur might be the Once and Future King. They are dangerous rivals: the warlord-king of Wales, the monster-slaying Saxons and all the savage tribes of the north who gather around the flag of Morgawse, the Witch Queen of Orkney.
