KarBOOM 0.2.4 makes the game modes previously only available in offline play -- time limit, score limit, and life limit -- available in online play. Jibb encourages players to get online and "bash each other around the place, then tell me how it's all going on the forums." Newcomers are reminded that offline play is free, and there are still free upgrades for online play available. "Just get online and sign-up. The first 500 forum accounts created are automatically upgraded for free, and you can see at the sign-up page that we still have a way to go."
In response to players' reluctance to host games themselves if they need to set up port-forwarding manually, this update takes advantage of UPnP to automatically set up port forwarding without players having to even think about it. Jibb hopes to finish releasing updates that focus on online play soon so he can begin work on the level editor. "When KarBOOM 0.1 was first released in October last year, the two biggest requests were online play and a level editor. Online play is here and improving all the time, but I'm really itching to get a level editor out there and see what players come up with."
