Justin Lee Collins to present the Golden Joystick Awards 2006

Channel 4 presenter on board for the UK's original gaming awards

10/08/06 - With gamers across the UK voting in their thousands on the recently revealed shortlists at www.goldenjoystick.co.uk, organisers Future have announced that this year's Golden Joystick Awards will be hosted by TV presenter, Justin Lee Collins.

From humble beginnings in 1982, the Golden Joystick Awards are officially the world's longest established gaming awards, and remain solely chosen by the votes of the games buying public.

This year, the awards have successfully secured a record number of Official media partners - working alongside Future to deliver extensive mainstream radio, newspaper, online and magazine coverage, with The Sun and Nuts already announced.

The Golden Joystick Awards will be held on Friday 27th October at the London Hilton, Park Lane. More than 700 industry guests will attend the glitzy award bash and continue their celebrations after dark at the infamous after show party.

Awards presenter, Justin Lee Collins can currently be seen presenting the Friday Night Project on Channel 4. Hailing from Bristol, he started out as a stand-up comic, but quickly moved to presenting. Having worked for MTV, Bravo, and the BBC, he now works under an exclusive deal with Channel 4. As well as The Friday Night Project, Justin is known for presenting Bring Back the A-Team and for his work on influential indie and alternative radio station XFM.

James Ashton-Tyler is organiser of the Golden Joystick Awards:

"I'm delighted that Justin Lee Collins has signed up to present the awards. He's one of the UK's hottest TV presenters and will bring his own unique style to the event. Everyone involved in the Golden Joystick Awards will be doing their bit to raise the profile of this annual event, as we aim to beat the 200,000 votes cast last year."

"The Golden Joystick Awards continue to increase in popularity because they are the only ceremony that allows UK gamers to directly influence who wins. The industry's biggest names all agree that winning or getting a nomination for a Golden Joystick is a massive honour, because gamers themselves have taken the time to have their say."

You can vote now on any of the 17 shortlists at www.goldenjoystick.co.uk. This year's Golden Joystick Awards will be webcast live on Friday, 27th October at www.computerandvideogames.com.
