Just Add Monsters working on 'revolutionary' next gen title

Another next gen console project emerged today, as news began to filter through that Cambridge-based studio Just Add Monsters is apparently some 18 months into a 'revolutionary' action adventure.

Sources today told our sister site Eurogamer.net that the Argonaut-owned studio has been hard at work on a next generation console game ever since it completed work on the critically-acclaimed Xbox-exclusive comedy beat-em up Kung Fu Chaos early last year. The title of the game has yet to emerge, but the team is also rumoured to be experimenting with online possibilities.

The smart money suggests that the team is leading development of the unannounced game on Xbox 2, following on from the experience gained from Kung Fu Chaos, and that publisher reaction has been such that several are currently involved in a tussle to sign a game that has been described by our source as "truly stunning and totally original". It's also understood that the untitled game - which is also thought to feature combat - will also be based on original IP.

Just Add Monsters declined to comment. We hope to bring you more news shortly of what is likely to be among the first wave of next gen titles, and certainly one of the first British-developed next gen console titles to be released, with work almost certain to be complete in time for the release of the next round of machines in 2006 - and could well feature prominently at next year's E3.
