Japanese hardware sales decline

DS platform leads chart, while Xbox 360 sees the only growth from last weeks sales

Japanese hardware sales took a slight dip for the week ended February 8, according to data provided by Media Create.

Nintendo's DS platform lead the chart by a significant margin, with the DSi shipping 49,529 units, down from 55,613 the previous week. Meanwhile, combined DSi and DS Lite sales put the platform at 62,013 units, compared to 70,760 units the week before.

Sony's PlayStation Portable followed behind with sales dropping from 44,135 units to 34,969. The Wii led the home console market in the region, with 20,412 units sold, down from 23,278 units, while the PlayStation 3 trailed behind with 16,082 units, from 17,405 units.

Microsoft's Xbox 360 was the only console to see a gain in sales, coming in with 8311 units, while the PlayStation 2 suffered the same decline as the others, falling from 5334 to 5089 units.
