Japan Underground

Sengoku Basara: Samurai Kings among attractions at Japanese-themed club night in London on November 17th.

Japan Underground aims to bring the buzz of Tokyo’s alternative nightlife to England, and will be teaming up with several of the UK’s biggest sources of Japanese entertainment to achieve it.

The opening party, running from 7pm-2am, will be loosely themed on Japan’s massively popular feudal brawler franchise Sengoku Basara. Video game giants Capcom will bring the latest game Sengoku Basara: Samurai Kings to the event, while Manga Entertainment will screen the forthcoming anime series on the venue’s cinema. Music from the game and anime will also be DJed throughout the night along with the biggest tunes from Japan’s pop, rock, visual kei, urban and underground scenes, plus remixes from video games such as Street Fighter, Final Fantasy and more.

To further the Japanese party experience, On Board Karaoke will be uprooting from its home in Earls Court and bring its authentic Japanese karaoke experience to the Japan Underground party. Their karaoke machines have over 130,000 songs packed with the latest songs from Japan, including well known anime, video game and TV theme tunes as well as songs from the rest of the world.

And what Japanese party is complete without purikura for a lasting momento! Purikura refers to the photo booths in Japan that allow users to customise the photos with crazy backgrounds, quirky effects and fun text. Photography firm Cosplay Portrait will be offering a purikura-like service as well as professional regular photo shoots using their lights and studio setup. All photos will be printed at the event for instant purchase.

There will also be the live bands 10 (“The zaniest experimental music in Asia” – TimeOut) and Cosmic Shenngy (An ambassador for the Chinese avant-garde” – TIME), and a DJ set from Retro Gamer columnist and Absolute Radio DJ Iain Lee who will be playing a selection of his favourite J-pop songs, as well as a DJ set from Japanese music journalist Tom Smith.

Japan Underground’s opening party will take place at the King Pin Suite of Bloomsbury – a two minute walk from Russell Square Station and situated between Kings Cross and Holborn.

A select number of tickets are available now for £5 from http://www.wegottickets.com/event/92888. Tickets will also be available for £6 on the door - Cosplayers and flyer-holders get in for £5. All tickets purchased in advance will be entered into a prize draw to win a copy of visual kei band The GazettE’s FILM BUG II DVD, courtesy of CLJ Records.
