Italian Videogame Developers Conference

Running as part of Ludic@rena this November in Milan.

Milan, September 24th 2008 – The first edition of the Italian Videogame Developers Conference starts in Milan as a part of Ludic@rena, the Italian Videogame Festival.

IVDC, ran by AIOMI, the Italian Association for Videogame Culture, aims at establishing an event dedicated to the Italian game development scene, which will work as a meeting place where the most important professionals in the field and the wannabe game developers will have the chance to share and exchange their knowledge, tools and techniques.

The Italian Videogame Developers Conference, with such media/event partner as San Francisco based Game Developers Conference, takes place on November 21st and 22nd at DatchForum of Assago (Milan).

The opening event, scheduled for November 21st, will feature the prestigious speech of Wolfgang Marzin, CEO of the Leipziger Messe and organizer of the Leipzig Games Convention, who is going to talk about the outstanding growth of the gaming industry in the last years.

The second day of the conference, on November 22nd, will be parted in three different sessions: the first one, organized in collaboration with GPI website (Game Programming Italia), will be dedicated to the independent game development and to professional orientation for wannabe game developers.

The second session will be about professional game development and the main national and international companies working in the gaming sector and it will feature the participation of speakers from the most important Italian companies in the industry, such as Milestone, Artematica, Ubisoft Milan, Twelve, Black Sheep Studios, SpinVector, Virtual Identity and Raylight. Also publisher Black Bean Games, recently formed studio Lightning Fish (part of Leader Group), as well as prestigious names from the Italian development community working abroad: Andrea Pessino of Ready At Dawn (God of War: Chains of Olympus), Marco Corbetta of Crytek (Cry Engine 2, the best graphics engine in the world), and Alessandro Bartolucci of Infinity Ward (Call of Duty).

The third and last session will feature a final debate: a roundtable about the Italian game development situation with main speakers of IVDC and the participation of the press and the audience; it will be the end of a two-day conference whose purpose is to show the important presence of the Italian developers in the present industry scenario.

AIOMI (Italian Association for Videogame Culture) is an organization instituted for the preservation, protection, diffusion and promotion of Videogame as a social and cultural medium. AIOMI gave birth to IVDC, the only National congress of Italian videogame developers.

Ludic@rena, The Italian Videogames Fair, takes place from November 21st to 23rd at the DatchForum of Assago (Mi).
