Over 11,000 apps built specifically for device on App Store

Apple iPad sales have topped three million in the 80 days since launch in the US, with the device now also boasting over 11,000 apps specifically made for it.

The App Store has more than 225,000 apps available for iPad, iPhone and the iPod Touch, with the company this week releasing the iOS4 operating system.

"People are loving iPad as it becomes a part of their daily lives," offered Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. "We're working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more people around the world, including those in nine more countries next month."

Apple launches the iPhone 4 this week in the US, UK, France, Germany and Japan, featuring six-axis motion sensing, increased pixel resolution and a five megapixel camera.
